The power is for the purpose of witnessing God’s power in distinction to that of the Antichrist. 


Revelation 11:4-6


Who are the Two Witnesses?


Some say they are Elijah and Enoch, Elijah and John the Baptist, or Elijah and Moses.


Malachi 4:5-6 


1 Kings 18:20-40


John the Baptist was asked by the priests and and Levites from Jerusalem, Are you Elijah? He said, “I am not” 


John 1:21


Enoch did not die and it states in Jude 14-15

These two witnesses taste death and he did not taste death, Hebrews 11:5


Moses- In Matthew 17:1-5


The Work of the Witnesses- They will be witnesses of God, they are likened to two lamp stands and the two olive trees. 


Malachi 4:6


The Witnesses Killed- Rev. 11:7-10


The “beast” vs.7- from the bottomless pit, refers to the beast described in Rev. 13:1-7.


They will enjoy a Christmas-like celebration, giving and receiving gifts because these preachers of righteousness and holiness are dead. vs.10


The Witnesses Resurrected- Rev. 11:11-12


Then suddenly “the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet.”


God’s Judgment on Jerusalem- Rev. 11:13-14


God sends a great earthquake, destroying a tenth part of the city and slaying seven thousand people. A remnant was afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.


This sets the stage for the last half of the Tribulation to begin, vs.14.
