“REVELATION”

5:1-14

Chapter five is a continuation of chapter four and what is taking place around the throne.

Revelation 5:1

Rev. 5:2-3

John saw “a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals? And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look in it.”

What would cause a Spirit filled man like John, lifted into heaven, to weep?

Jeremiah 32:9-12

John weeps because he knows that this scroll represents the title deed to the earth and that as long as it is left sealed, Satan will remain in control of the earth.

Zechariah 5:1-3

So who can open the scroll?

Rev. 5:5-6

This gives us five characteristics of the Lord:

  1. “The Lion of the tribe of Judah.” Genesis 49:8-10
  2. “The Root of David.” Isaiah 11:1,10

  1. “A Lamb, looking as if it had been slain.”

  1. “He had seven horns.” This indicates that the Lamb is not weak. A horn in Scripture indicates power. Zechariah 1:18

  1. “Seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” Isaiah 11:2, John 3:34

Rev. 5:7-8

Rev. 5:9-10

In the song we the reason why Jesus is worthy to open the scroll.

  1. “Because You were slain”- Christ work on Calvary’s cross.
  2. “With Your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
  3. “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

Another proof of the pre-tribulation rapture is the word “us” in verse 9. This scene in heaven appears before the tribulation not at the end. Besides verse 10 indicates that the redeemed saints will “be kings and priest to our God, and we shall reign on earth.”

When will that reigning on earth occur? In the Millennium.

Rev. 20:4

Rev. 5:11-12

This group proclaim He is worthy to receive seven things-power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing.

Rev. 5:13-14

Philippians 2:9-11
