“SHARING YOUR FAITH”

“HOW CAN WE SEE RESULTS?”

Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive POWER, after the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall BE WITNESSES….”

*The power of the Holy Spirit results in a life that is a witness:

2 Corinthians 6:3 “We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.”

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

*Love

*Joy

*Peace

*Longsuffering

*Kindness

*Goodness

*Faithfulness

*Gentleness

*Self-control

“The Holy Spirit is the one who makes real in you, what Christ has done for you.” Oswald Chambers

Notice again Acts 1:8 “…after the Holy Spirit is COME UPON you, and you shall be witnesses.”

“The great power of the Holy Spirit is first of all for witnessing.” Greg Laurie

The disciples had the Holy Spirit in them.

John 20:22 “And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

But they needed an empowering by the Holy Spirit and they received it on the day of Pentecost.

“It is staggering to remember that Peter walked with Jesus for three years and received teaching, discipleship, and a moral example unparalleled in all of history. And yet all of that never made Peter the man God intended him to be. It was not until we see Peter “filled with the Holy Spirit” that things really turned around.” Jim Cymbala

Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Acts 2:47 “praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

How does the Holy Spirit come ON you?

Like the early disciples, if you are truly a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit in you. He came in when you were saved.

Romans 8:9 “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”

Act 2:38-39 “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Also, like the first disciples you need to be empowered, to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

In fact we are commanded to be filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:17-18 “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.”

Colossians 1:29 “To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

So The Question Is:

How are you to be “filled with the Spirit?”

If something is to be filled with any substance, it must be emptied of anything that is already in it!

How can YOU be filled with the Holy Spirit?

Empty yourself of anything and everything that does not please God.

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

“faithful”-He is faithful over and over again

*Of every deed or action

*Of every word

*Of every thought, mental attitude

Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ask Him to fill you right now with His Holy Spirit!

What Now?

You have made life changing commitments during this study. Be assured, Satan is not happy with your decision to become a daily witness for Jesus Christ. Further, your life will be very busy. It will help you greatly if you have accountability.

Right now pray, think and then ask another person, to keep you accountable and to ask you the following questions when you get together:

*Did you keep your priorities in order this past week?

*Did you obey Jesus’ command to witness this past week?

*Did you think about the fate of your lost friends this week?

*Did you share your testimony this past week?

*Did you pass out a invite card or a tract this past week?

*Did you pray at every meal and for your server this past week?

Lastly- make this your “wake up” prayer each morning:

“Lord, I want to glorify You in my life today. Help me love people like You love them. Give me a burden for lost people. Help me look for opportunities to witness today.”

“The life of a believer, a follower of Jesus Christ, is to be so demonstrably different from the life of an unbeliever, that it validates the reality of Jesus Christ, and causes people to want it!” Unknown
