“THE POWERFUL NAMES OF GOD”
“IMMANUEL- GOD WITH US”
MATTHEW 1:21-23
Matthew 1:21-23 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
The essence is that God became a baby, God was in the crib. We read about this prophecy in Isaiah:
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Keep in mind that the Child is born, and the Son is given.
Hebrews 10:5-7 “Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. 6In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure. 7Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”
Jesus came not only to do the Father’s will but also to represent God the Father so that we would know what it’s like to have God with us, as the name Immanuel proclaims.
Colossians 1:15 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”
Hebrews 1:3 “Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”
Jesus Christ is Immanuel, God with us. He is the very representation and likeness of God, sent to show us the beauty and majesty of the King.
John 1:3 “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”
Jesus walked among us. He was flesh, bones, sinews, and blood, and yet He was also perfectly divine.
Colossians 1:19 “For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell.”
Without Immanuel- Jesus- we would have no chance of fully understanding God.
John 1:18 “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”
How does God make Himself known?
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
The Wonder of His Name:
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;

El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)- Revelation 1:8 ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, [d]the Beginning and the End,” says the [e]Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
There is no place you can look and not see Jesus. He is everywhere. He is everything.
Colossians 1:17 “And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
The closer you get to Jesus, the closer your are to experiencing and fulfilling your destiny.
Philippians 2:8 “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
Jesus exhibited that passion for us, He deserves our praise:
Philippians 2:9-11 “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The name Jesus in the Greek means “savior, salvation, or deliverer.” Of all the names of God, the name of Jesus opens the floodgates of His greatest power both for now and forever.
