“THE TEN COMMANDMENTS”

“WORSHIPPING THE TRUE GOD”

EXODUS 20:1-3

Are you approaching God correctly?

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Our love is shown to God by us keeping His commandments and walking with God in a personal relationship.

Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

“Before Me”

What do we mean by God?

Is there any other god in your life?

God demands exclusive worship.

Mark 12:29-30 “Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.”

Key word is “all”-when you give all of yourself to something there is nothing left for anything else. 

No competition God is unique:

Exodus 15:11 “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

Who is this God?

Exodus 3:13-14

“I AM WHO I AM.” 

*God is speaking of His self-existence, God is totally independent of external condition defining Him.

*God is speaking of self-sufficient, God doesn’t need anything outside of Himself in order to function.

*God is speaking of eternality, if you ever live in a present tense “I Am” not I was, or I will be, “I Am.” And “I Am Who I Am!”

*God is speaking- God is Person “I Am” not it is, God is not a thing, He is a being, a person.

When the true God is forced to compete with false gods He gets ticked off.

Judges 2:10-15

God will be your opposition, when you put other gods before Him.

Do you have any other gods before God in your life?

God says if I am your only God, you shall have Me!

Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
