“ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE?”

“DO YOU HAVE A MAGNETIC PERSONALITY?”

COLOSSIANS 1:3-8

So how can we live today so people can see in us something to be admired and bring praise to God for what He is doing in our lives?

What is it about these Colossians that drew Paul to them?

Colossians 1:3-8

How To Have A Magnetic Personality For God

The people at Colosse were known for their faith and love.

1.   We Need Balance In Our Lives- Colossians 1:4 “Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;”

Do you want to keep your balance?

Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Romans 8:8 “So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

So how do we balance faith and love? You do it with hope

Colossians 1:4-5 “since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel.”

1 Thessalonians 1:3 “Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Titus 2:13 “Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The way we keep our balance in difficult days is to know Jesus Christ is coming again, that is our hope.

Colossians 1:23 “if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.”

Colossians 1:27 “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Jesus Christ the “hope of glory” and that hope is in us as believers.

Hebrews 6:15-19

Hope is not something that is wished for, it is an absolute certainty that has not yet been realized.

1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

1 John 3:3 “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”

Where does the hope come from?

Colossians 1:5 “the word of the truth of the gospel.”

It comes from the Word of God.

You keep your balance by keeping your eyes on Jesus and realizing He is coming any time.

2.   You Must Have Something That People Can Identify With

Colossians 1:6 “Which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;”

The Gospel is the common bond that drew Paul to the Colossians.

The Gospel will draw people to you if you read it, study it, know it and do it.

3.   A Testimony Of Success- Colossians 1:6 “…and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;”

Truth brings fruit bearing, fruit bearing follows believing in God’s truth.

Matthew 13:18-23

John 15:1-5,16

God’s will for you is to hear the Word, believe the Word, live the Word, and to bring forth fruit.

4.   Your Life Must Be Networked Together With Others Who Have Had Spiritual Success

Colossians 1:7-8 “As you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf, who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.”

God used a key person to bring other people together.

Epaphras was a key person who put Paul and the Colossians together. He is a fellow servant and faithful minister of Christ.

Colossians 4:12 “Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”

Philemon 1:23 “Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you.”

He was a fellow prisoner with Paul at Rome.
