“ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE?”

“THE PHILEMON FACTOR”

COLOSSIANS 4:1, Philemon 1:1-25

Colossians 4:1 “Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.”

“Give” your bondservants:

1.   You Must Give In Order To Be A Good Boss- vs.4 “Give”

Ephesians 6:9 “And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.”

We need to give to those around us.

2.   You Must Be Just And Fair To Be A Good Boss- vs.4 “just and fair (equal)”

“Just”- treating others the right way, doing what is right, no matter what.

“Fair”-or equal, treating others with respect according to what they are doing and what they deserve.

We also need to learn who is boss- vs.4 “knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.”

1 Thessalonians 4:6 “That no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.”

1 Corinthians 7:20-24

*We Must Learn The Philemon Factor:

Onesimus was a run away slave of Philemon. Paul writes the letter of Philemon asking Him to forgive Onesimus:

Philemon 1:1-7,21 Paul Butters Philemon up:

*If you love God, you will love His children:

Philemon 1:5 “Hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints.”

*Philemon is a generous man:

Philemon 1:6 “That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”

*Philemon encourages others:

Philemon 1:7 “For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother.”

*Philemon was a doer of the Word of God:

Philemon 1:21 “Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.”

*Paul’s Request:

Philemon 1:8-19

“Onesimus”-means useful.

Paul also reminds Philemon he has a debt to Paul:

Philemon 1:19 “I, Paul, am writing with my own hand. I will repay—not to mention to you that you owe me even your own self besides.”

Paul want Philemon to make him proud of him, do the right thing:

Philemon 1:20-21 “Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord. Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.”

A lot of relationships are ruined because we won’t let God be God.
