“ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE?”

“WHAT DO YOU THINK OF CHRIST?”

COLOSSIANS 1:15-17

Who is Jesus?

Colossians 1:15-17 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

Four Things About Christ That Paul Established:

1.   Christ Is The Image Of God

Colossians 1:15 ““He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

Christ is the very image of God. He is the exact likeness of God, is Himself God and yet died on the cross as a human being.

1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness, God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.”

Jesus is God manifest in the flesh.

Colossians 2:9 “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”

Jesus is the image of God, we see all of God’s attributes in Christ.

John 14:1-9

Genesis 1:26-27 “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Genesis 5:1,3 “This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.”

Colossians 3:10 “And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”

“Put on the new man”- it is through Jesus Christ that we can have a restored in us the image of God, who created us.

Romans 8:29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”

God is interested in one thing, “what do you think of Christ?”

2.   Christ Is The Firstborn Over All Creation

Colossians 1:15 “the firstborn over all creation.”

Jesus Christ is God!

Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

Matthew 1:25 “And did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.”

Luke 2:7 “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Romans 8:29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

Jesus is the firstborn over all creation. Jesus is not part of creation, He is the Creator.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

3.   Christ Is The Creator

Colossians 1:16 “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”

Jesus Christ the Son is the Creator, He is the One who spoke it all into existence.

Revelation 3:14 ““And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God.”

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

4.   Christ Is The Sustainer-He Hold It All Together

Colossians 1:17 “And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”

Hebrews 1:3 “Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Acts 17:23-28
