“SEVEN REASONS WHY CHRIST AROSE”

REVELATION 1:18

Revelation 1:18 “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”

Who is Jesus?

The Bible says:

The Word Incarnate: John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

God In Human Form: 1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.”

The Savior: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The Messiah of the Jews: John 20:31 “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”

The Glorified Christ of Revelation: Revelation 1

The Giver of Life: John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Salvation, Peace, and Joy: Romans 10:9-10, Romans 5:1, Galatians 5:22-23.

If He had been a mere man, He would not have risen from the grave. Why did He rise from the dead?

  1.   Christ Arose Because Of Who He Is

Act 2:24 “Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”

Christ is Life!

2.   Christ Arose To Fulfill The Davidic Covenant

Isaiah 9:6-7 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice

From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

2 Samuel 7:16 “And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”

Luke 1:32-33 “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

3.   Christ Arose To Become The Source Of Resurrection Life.

Colossians 3:1-4

1 John 5:11-12 “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

Ephesians 2:1 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.”

4.   Christ Arose To Be The Head Over All Things To The Church.

Ephesians 1:20-21 “Which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

5.   Christ Arose To Be The Source Of Resurrection Power.

Ephesians 1:19-21 “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

6.   Christ Arose On Account Of Justification.

Romans 4:5 “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.”

Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

7.   Christ Arose To Be The Firstfruits.

1 Corinthians 15:20-23

He is the firstfruits. We follow Him, and He has the keys of death and hell.

Revelation 1:18 “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”
