“JESUS IS ALIVE”
“THE RESURRECTION ANSWERS LIFE’S QUESTIONS”
PSALM 8:4
Psalm 8:4 “What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”
People today are seeking answers to:
*How can I live a fulfilled life?
*How can I know about the life hereafter?
*Does my life really have any meaning?
What is the world’s answers to these questions?
*He who dies with the most toys wins!
*Make sure you give to charities.
*Do whatever you have to do to make a name for yourself.
*Do whatever you have to do to get ahead of others, even if you step on them.
Even in the spiritual realm, people have the wrong answers to the questions they are asking: They say:
*If you work hard enough to be good, it will cancel out all the wrong that I have done.
*I just hope that I’m lucky and make it to heaven.
*I was born into the right family and I will make it.
*I go to church and take communion, therefore I will have eternal life.
At one point, life even seemed futile to the one recorded in the Bible by the name of Job:
Job 7:6 “My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, And are spent without hope.”
Jesus recognized that these questions have always plagued man and He came to answer them once and for all. And He brought Hope on the Resurrection morning! That hope brings answers to all these questions. The Answers To Life’s Questions Are:
- The Resurrection Reflects The Facts Of Life
The world is constantly trying to answer the question- How Do I Find Fulfillment In My Life?
Ecclesiastes 2:1-11
I want you to listen to what he found:
Ecclesiastes 2:11 “Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.”
If you want fulfillment in life instead of an empty life, listen to Solomon.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.”
Here is what Jesus said:
John 10:9-10 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
2. The Resurrection Resolves The Faltering of Life
Man is constantly searching for God.
John 3:1-3 “There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus makes it clear in a few chapters later when He said:
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
There might be some here today who would say: How can I know that what Jesus said is really true? How can I know that He is any different from any other great teacher?
Jesus didn’t just claim to be the truth. He proved it by coming back from the grave.
Matthew 12:40 “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
But if you go to the tomb of Jesus, it’s empty! He is Risen!
The words of the angel are still ringing in our ears:
Matthew 28:6 “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
1 Corinthians 15:16-17 “For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!”
Dr. Henry Morris said, “The bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity. If the resurrection did not take place, then Christianity is a false religion. If it did take place, then Christ is God and the Christian faith is absolute truth.”
*They knew that Jesus was real!
*They knew that Jesus was the truth!
*They knew that Jesus was life!
*How can I know that what Jesus said is really true?
*How can I know that He is any different from any other great teacher?
The Resurrection Makes The Difference!
3. The Resurrection Reveals The Fulness of Life
*The empty tomb did not convince the disciples. *The Living Christ did!
Let me tell you what the resurrection reveals as it relates to us today:
The Resurrection reveals the value of you!
*God intended us to use things and love people. *To many today love things and use people.
1 Peter 1:18-19 “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
You have two pathways to walk down: *One is the one you are already walking:
Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.”
The other path is the one God desires for you because He loves you. Don’t go mans way.
Is your goal in life to search for meaning or to search for God who gives meaning?
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.”
As you examine your projects or your goals, what is your starting point, your motivation?
Choose Life In Christ!
