“TIS THE SEASON” 

“THE ONE THING”

LUKE 2:8-12

1.   The Purpose Of Christmas Is Joy.

Luke 2:8-12

vs.11 “Savior”- means deliverer

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

*We Are Distracted

*Attention Leads To Awareness

Luke 10:38-42

Joy follows awareness.

How can we avoid being distracted?

2.   Recognize Good Things Can Become The Wrong Things When they are prioritized over the one thing.

The “one thing” is to be with Jesus.

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

“Immanuel- God with us.”

Philippians 3:7-9

Psalm 73:25 “Whom have I in heaven but You And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.”

Desire “You” more than anything else.

How will you prioritize the “one thing?” 

“Distracted”- to be pulled away from. 

The main purpose of Christmas is joy.

Luke 2:10 “… I bring you good tidings of great joy”

James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Matthew 1:21 “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

“Jesus”- is the Savior of the world from the penalty of sin and the power of sin.
